Day number two: Having not yet adapted to Thai time, we arose before dawn to go see the Nonthaburi Market. We passed this ornate building on our way to catch the ferry.
The Chao Phraya river passes through the heart of Bangkok, providing access to a variety of areas via river boats. Here we caught a beautiful sunrise from the Chao Phraya Express. What this stunning picture fails to capture is our dismay as the first boat passed us by entirely.
The food market was packed with foods unusual and unfamiliar. Amongst the endless food stands were turtles, eels, squid, pigheads, frogs, and catfish flopping about. Foreign produce as well. If we had any means of cooking at our hotel, we surly would have bought our ingredients here.
For extra credit, we picked up an exotic item. If you thought dragonfruit was just an artificial marketing flavor, you were wrong. Behold:
