Mae Hong Son, here we come!!! And after yet another windy mountain road, we arrived in the quaint town and plopped ourselves down in a simple guesthouse. The next day we hit the morning market for a gravy-noodle dish, then rented a bike to conquer the 85 km tour to the border village of Ban Rak Thai (aka Mae Aw).
A quick pit stop at Pha Sua Waterfall...here we find the traditional Thai toilet! Just place your feet where the grooves are, and get your groove on. Flushing involves that green pail, need we elaborate on the subject?
The waterfall itself...it probably is more impressive in the rainy season.
Ban Rak Thai! To the left you may find all the tea shops, which apparently sell locally grown tea. But in actuality most of the tea probably comes from China.
Some views of the reservoir in Ban Rak Thai.
Beautiful pic, right? Upon further inspection, we found that those lovely blossoms were fake :(
On our way back, a quick detour brought us to Ban Raum Thai and yet another pristine reservoir. Here we fed a rather hungry puppy the remainder of our uneaten breakfast. Good deed of the day accomplished!
Picturesque reflections on the reservoir in Mae Hong Son.
Shortly before we had to return our motorbike, we zipped up to Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu (phew...quite a mouthful) for a morning tour.
Wat Jong Kham and Jong Klang, which stand sentry over the centrally located reservoir
Nick poses with the teak buddha. We looked for the famed glass paintings, but they somehow eluded us.
